Mini Twists on Natural Hair

Washed my hair with Garnier Fructise Pure Clean shampoo & conditioner. Then I blow-dried my hair using coconut oil. Then twisted in small sections using Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue to seal the ends. This style only took about 3 hours & I love it!

I hope things worked out for you. It takes courage to wear your hair natural in any workplace. Please realize that Corporate America has built a hardcore hatred for any ethnicity other than the ideal standard of the successful employee being blonde and blue eyed. It will always be hard for black women revealing our genuine authenticities about our hair because it's their system. unless we change the policies we work under, we must play by? their rule books or strive to have our own.

Wow so many laws broken... They are being discriminatory on so many levels. They are harrassing you. They have singled you? out and embarrased you. No job can MAKE you wear make up and heels. What if you have sensative skin or other skin issues? What if you have a have a bad back or knees and can't wear heels? Rediculous! You shouldn't feel frustrated, you should consult with a lawyer. Rae that was a very ugly comment he made to you on so many levels. Not only it is offensive to blacks but to say your hair looks butch like that is soooooo horrible in his mind is very offensive as well. He really needs some training and you really do need to turn him in. I sat around for years at a job letting people say crazy stuff to me as a natural black woman and I am done with that. If you can wear your? natural hair, so can I.

respectfully this is not lawsuit worthy just change your hair style to something cute, I'm natural and in the military and the real world has regulations. I do not think you're over reacting but I do feel people are quick to get offended just because they feel like they're suppose to. I do agree he as a manger should have been able to convey his meaning with no problem? but something tells me he's human, cut him some slack it's not like he tried to make you straighten it. you handled it well tho

I tried to message you I'm not sure if it went through. My recommendation is document, document, document your conversations,, what he says, who was there, date, time, etc. Ask HR for the new policy changes if they are subject to change they need to be in writing. Its better if you work as a group if possible. But always keep your own records. If you can't get HR new policy send manager an email or memo confirming this? is the new policy, etc. Share his response with co-workers. Best

@sthomas012 we actually checked the employee handbook & unfortunately HR told us that at the very end it says that "at any time management can change these rules" meaning we still have to abide by the heels & make-up part. and? what is EEOC?

@summerbeeuty I've had similar experiences. I always try to explain that it's about the way in which your hair is styled. But unless you're already natural I guess most people don't understand that natural hair can be manipulated to look a certain way,? which is exactly what I love about it! :)

When I went natural a few people told me that natural hair looks? good on me, and it wouldn't look good on them. I was told I had "Good natural hair" When I asked them why do they think that way, they said it was because their hair is "nappy". Of course this sickened me, for many reasons. But it was also funny because I have type 4c hair. It's really about how you style and maintain your hair which is what I explained to them. I agree with you on this sis.
