Just a tip hun, keeping her awake? more during the day won't make her sleep better at night, some as if you force them to stay awake for a later bed time, it won't make them sleep longer either.

i noticed the disposable diapers, and disposable wipes, is it easier just to use disposables verse cloth? or did you not have enough cloth diapers to keep you going?? a friend of my said her newborn in cloth uses 12 cloth just during day, so you would have to have a good stash right to only cloth diaper? just curious?

I don't really agree with the 'I can't put her down because she will cry' comment lol but I? guess that is just a personal opinion. I watched this with my elser sister raising three children and she made a rod for her own back by doing similar things to Mandd, if a child has had all the care given by being fed, changed etc then I see no harm in letting he/she self settle, even if this means crying out. Good luck and Congratulations on your arrival.

if you read through the advice that people are giving they are all saying the same thing to Mandy.... so there must be a point to what they are saying.... keeping? your baby awake of a day time makes it harder for a baby to settle and get a good sleep of a night time....i see nothing wrong with what people are saying to her!!!!!

i have to say that i agree with you... it may not sound the nicest but it's? true.... i have 3 kids and if i have a forth i will go back to some books that really helped me when my others were babies... good on you and dont listen to the people having a go at you your only trying to help Mandy.

the same thing happend last time when you adn i tried to talk about tips in the save our sleep book.... and? people will just jump all over us.... i agree with 100% and have 3 kids as well and find her advice very help full.... if i have a forth i will go back to her book as a mum you can never have enough knowledge.

You are right I didn't know everything when I became a mum for the first time.. But I did read books about parenting and learnt how much sleep newborns should be getting during the day.. Just from experience I wanted to share? that depriving a baby of sleep during the day doesn't necessarily mean they will sleep through the night.. Only makes them less settled.. Nothing wrong with the advice that I gave or the other mums?

I myself have a 5.5 year old stedaugther who I have seen grow since she was 8 months old. Little girls are so much fun. LOL My first time breastfeeding my son, no one warned me about the opposite breast leaking. So after I fed him when my milk really came in- I stood up and my nightgown was soaked!! LOL, memories! Store that milk when you are getting close to ending your time breastfeeding. I was able to give my son frozen milk warmed? up for months with the amount i was able to store. So he was breastfeed about 12months and is one healthy & smart kiddo!

Oh my gosh she is seriously precious. Makes me want to cry. My little girl is 2 and you would not believe how fast the time flies. Seriously savor it because it is so damn fleeting. Try to remember through the sleepless nights how quick it will pass...oh my I am now baby hungry? lol Also, don't you love those swaddle blankets? They are amazing! My munchkin was and still is such a squirmy worm and those helped her to not startle herself awake. Congrats she is so so beautiful!

sorry i dont agree with you one bit.... all babies are different some can be snuggled a bit and be fine to self settle and some can not.... i just found that i did it with? my first and i ended up having to do it for a really long time and then with my 2nd i could not go through that again and so after a week or so of her not settling after night feeds i found the book and her systems worked so well that Gracie was able to self settle th first night, giving new parents info of diff stratergies.

I have not read the book you are talking about. I am just shocked that while people are watching a dad rock his 2 day old baby, people are telling him not to do that, and that he should let her cry a little. A baby that is 2 days old is still used to being int he womb, a tight, comfy, warm place. I don't rock my daughter all night, but I also don't let her cry for a bit. She is 2 months old, she is too young to cry for a bit. That's why I am here to soothe? and snuggle her.

here here so? agree with you, with my 2nd i was up all night and i was rocking away to get my baby girl to sleep i happen to buy save our sleep and it tought me so much.... and i had my baby self soothing the first night lucky for me as i ended up getting shingles a month later so i was very sick and my life was made easier with a baby that i did not have to rock to sleep.

Good on you Danielle:)? at least we are both on the same page.. Why do people automatically think you are being critical when you just share experiences.. Ridiculous! With my twins I sure didn't want to go down the 'rocking' path again either.. I wish someone would have told me differently too:) and for the record.. My babies are healthy happy and gorgeous and we have a closer bond than ever.. Just cause I didn't 'rock' them to sleep doesn't make any difference:)

I rocked my daughter every night since she was born, but the 1 time I didn't and put her in her cot wide awake she went down without a problem. So rocking them doesn't make them just "used" to it for the rest of there babyhood. And DO NOT leave her to cry, I don't think anyone good mother would, but it was suggested. She is a freaking newborn? some woman should NEVER have children (not you, the poster)

have you even read the book that i was talking about i used the method for my 2 girls and it worked a treat.... if babies are not hungry wet or have wind and are wrapped tightly sometimes that is all the baby needs to do is cry for like a minute and they go to sleep i am not suggesting to let them cry for hours on end.... but they can learn to self sooth it worked for me... and get ya high horse who wants to sit there rocking there baby? all night

It depends on your job as to whether or not you get paid? for maternity leave. If you have, say...an office job where you get benefits, paid leave, etc. then you can be paid for maternity leave. Where I work, I only work 30 hours a week, don't have full-time benefits, etc. so I wouldn't get paid for any leave.

That's true! In Brazil we get payed for 6 months! Mothers don't have to go to work during 6 months because this is the time to breast feed the babies. Every company do that because it? is the law. I feel sad when mothers only have such a small time to stay home with a newborn baby. Children at that age need us more than anything.

i had pitocin with my 2nd labour as my waters broke and nothing happend so i was given pitocin and my labour went very smoothly...? 1 cm an hour and half way through i asked for a epidural as i had planned on asking for one and it was fine. I did not notice that the contractions were to painful.

How long are you staying home untill you get back? to work? In sweden everyone gets one year fully paid maternity leav and then you can deside yourself how you and your partner wants to chear that and then the father gets two weeks to stay home from the day you go into labor. When our girls was born I took all the days since i was breastfeeding. Dont you have anything like that in the us so that you can stay home longer? Hoping for a safe and easy delivery for you! when you get checked that can happen...when i first got checked i got really excited the next day when i thought i lost my mucus plus but my doctor said if your recently checked it can make you do that...bleed and have mucus discharge or if it is pieces or your? whole mucus plug it was forced out while your being checked so its not natrual progression. and everytime after that i bled and had mucus discharged. just to let you know

I remember all those pains! Lol one of the things I did was keep my iPod on me so I could update on Facebook between contractions. Lol? I also brought our laptop to the hospital. That way I was able to upload pictures for friends right away and watch movies, etc for something to do.

I found that stapping my hospital gown was IMPOSSIBLE with an I.V in one arm and a baby in the other. I was trying to nurse in front of family and friends and it was so ackward. Happy 37 weeks! So exciting! I hope that baby girl will hold out for your work schedule, but they do tend to? have a mind of their own when it comes to their arrival! TOILET PAPER from home! With my first child the hospital toilet paper is the cheapest hardest stuff on the market! With my? son I brought my own and it was great. I also plan on bringing some when I deliver my twins in the next few weeks. and trust me, you will be using the slippers. the hospital floor is gross especially if you have to share a room or walk down the halls for classes they offer for your new baby or to visit the nursery. : ) Good Luck and I can't wait to see little Hartley! : )

so i am so happy you can have one of Gods' gifts here, and sorry he had to take one home. Loosing a baby in utero is hard because the baby couldnt see you, and you couldnt see it, so there doesnt seem to be closure,BUT, the baby saw Gods face first. and it will know all so, when it is time to unite with the baby ,it? will have lived with you and your family all in a blink of an eye while you and yours were here all of your years. got old enough to understand, was mom walking out the doors holding him up and saying this is grandma and grandpaw jackson, this is pawpaw davenport, this is sissy{aunt}, and then turning? him twards his daddy and saying this is your daddy and my son lets out the most shrill scream that you ever heard, he hadnt made any noise up till then! lol than all adults were laughing and telling my husband Jared to quit scareing him. so precious memories are hard for someone who has never seen them.

Happy 36 weeks! You are getting so close now! I felt like I was going to go right up till my due date as well but then Emma decided to come at 37 weeks. ? Just a little opinion: Unless the doctor can show you that her placenta isn't functioning as it should (if she goes overdue), don't let them bully you into being induced. My fiancee and his brother were both 2 and 2 and a half weeks overdue, and both of them, and their little bitty momma were fine! Because of her insurance, they kept her and the babies in the hospital longer than they really needed to be! She'll come out when she decides she's done cookin!

I know I dont know? you but I know how it feels to want something so bad an it not happen when you want it. Funny how it happens when God said it is time for it. I have been trying so hard only to be pregnant in my tubes twice. My time is coming soon. I have 3 already so I know how much joy a little one can bring you :)

congrats gurly.....yeah the last time i posted something to ya, i found out i was pregnant,but i started bleeding really bad. so i went to the hospital, 3 times. they couldnt find out what? was wrong with me. so finally i talked to my OB and he said it was a chemical pregnancy...... i hope all goes well for you. hope she is everything u have ever dreamed of.

I just wanted to tell you that the rock n' play sleeper can cause torticollis and or a flat spot on the back of baby's head if the baby sleeps in the sleeper for extended amounts of time because of the angle of the sleeper and the lack? of padding at the top of the sleeper, there's reviews on amazon where this happened to multiple mothers and they explained their situation. I find my braxton hicks are hurting me alot this time around. Some of them are enough to really take my breath away. Your tummy looks so cute! Hey just wanted to let you know that the contraction's that your having are totaly normal! I get the EXACT same contractions! It literaly stops you in your tack becuase it? hurts! I had them when I was pregnant with my son(whos now 3) And I have them in this pregnancy too. I'm 30weeks. 1 week behind you!! :) I talked to my dr about it, and he saied it's Braxton Hicks or just the position that baby is in. I was worried about it also because everyone says that they are not suposto hurt. mine did!

You should seriously open your own online shop. I, and Im sure many other mothers, would LOVE to buy all this cool stuff you make.? I love the bumpers you made that go up the rails! I kept the paci form my daughter...she is great a? self soothing and it makes life a ton easier! Way to go and just stick to the no paci....they are not needed at all!!! To many parents use them to just keep the baby quiet!

I didn't use a pacifier or a bottle- I went from breast to sippy cup! haha ( obviously- I dont recommend that- I just hated the plastic nipples!) Don't let people scare you into making parenting decisions that aren't ones you feel comfortable with. Its your baby and you have enough common sense to? make good decisions. Obviously talking to your doctor is a must- but moms usually know best.. :)
